Chakras
A chakra is like a whirling vortex of energy. Think of it as an invisible, rechargeable battery. It is charged and recharged through contact with the stream of cosmic energy in the air.. The name, chakra, comes from the Sanskrit word meaning wheel. A chakra resembles a whirling vortex of energy. You can think of chakras as invisible, rechargeable batteries. They are charged and recharged through contact with the stream of cosmic energy in the atmosphere, in much the same way that buildings are connected to a power source in a city. A chakra acts like a step-down transformer. It takes in higher energies and changes them into forms that are usable by the human body. These energies cause hormonal, chemical, and cellular changes in the recipient.
Chakras connect the spiritual body to the physical one. They regulate the flow of energy in the electrical network that runs through the physical body. The body`s electrical system resembles the wiring in a house. It allows electrical current to be sent to every part, and is ready for use when needed.
Picture a vertical power current that runs up and down the spine, from top to bottom. Think of this as your main source of energy. The seven major chakras are in the centre of the body and are aligned with this vertical power line.
Each person has seven major chakras. There are similar energy centres called minor chakras, but we`re going to concentrate on the major ones and their amazing impact on our human energy field. Each chakra relates to specific organs of the body and is subtly linked to the other chakras. The vitality of each chakra enables the associated organs to function and relate to the rest of the body in a healthy manner.
A different endocrine gland is associated with each chakra. This hormonal tie-in between chakras and glands hints at the complexities of how a subtle energetic imbalance can cause abnormal changes in the cells of the whole body.
Sometimes chakras become blocked because of stress or emotional or physical problems. If the body`s energy can`t move freely, problems occur. When a blockage takes place, it is possible to achieve a balance by following the simple instructions given here for Chakra Clearing.
Each chakra is traditionally associated with a particular colour as well as certain gems or stones. If you enjoy working with stones and crystals, you may want to try using them to assist in clearing the chakras. If you are unsure whether a chakra is open and functioning well, leave an appropriate stone or crystal on the energy centre while you meditate. Carnelian is an excellent stone for this purpose; it directs energy to any area that needs it.
If you sense that an area of your body is not functioning as well as you would like, it may be that the chakra associated with it needs to be cleared. Think of it as cleaning your personal sparkplugs. One way to determine whether a chakra needs clearing, is to use a pendulum. By dowsing over the chakra area itself or by holding one hand over the chakra and the pendulum in the other hand.
Below is a detailed chart referencing the seven major chakras in turn, starting at the bottom and working up. Refer to the illustration to locate each one. Any suggestions given here are simply suggestions. Nothing is intended for use as a substitute for medical diagnosis or sometimes necessary treatment. If you have serious physical or psychological problems, please consult a physician.
Here is a wonderful Daily Chakra Meditation to help keep your chakras clear and flowing with vital energy.
- Find a quiet place where you can be alone, without any disruptions. I know for many of us, this can be difficult, especially if there are others in the house. One thing that I find helpful, is to talk with your family members, and let them know that you are going to meditate or have some alone-time, and if they will please not disturb you for the next 30 minutes (or how ever long you need). You are entitled to this time and should not feel guilty for taking it. Don`t feel bad if you can`t do it on a daily basis, just do it whenever you can. Don`t forget to turn your phone off.
- Now, make your space conducive to meditation in what ever way pleases you. I like to light candles, burn incense and play meditation music. What ever helps you focus, relax, and feel at ease.
- Once you have your space all set up, find a comfortable place to sit, either on the floor or in a chair. Make sure your back is properly supported. I often lean up against my bed and just put a pillow behind my back. You may sit in any way you find comfortable. Some people prefer not to cross anything (they feel it is blocking energy) I personally feel that energy will flow when you are comfortable, whatever position that may be.
- Now, close your eyes and take several deep breaths. Breathe in through your nose and release the air through your mouth. Slowly and comfortably. Do this about ten times and all the while imagine all of the thoughts cluttering your mind floating away in a bubble. They can`t enter your head, you are free from all thoughts. (Don`t worry if this seems difficult, it takes a lot of practice before being able to completely quiet your mind. The point is to relax and to not worry).
- Next, imagine your root chakra. Visualize the beautiful, red colour radiating from this chakra. Feel the energy vortex swirling with bright red light. Imagine it clear and balanced and rotating like a wheel. See the color red.
- Once you feel comfortable with the root chakra, move up towards your sacral chakra. Feel the orange energy generating in a circular fashion, flowing clear and balanced. Visualize the beautiful, orange light radiating from this chakra.
- Now, begin to focus on your solar plexus chakra. Take a few minutes to imagine a whirling vortex of energy with a bright yellow and gold emitting from this chakra. Feel it clear and balanced.
- Next, begin to focus on your heart chakra. Feel your chest begin to open and expand and all of the glorious green light energy flowing free. Your heart chakra feels clear and balanced.
- Now you will move to your throat chakra. Imagine the periwinkle blue energy whirling and flowing , allowing you to open up and communicate freely. Feel this chakra becoming clear and balanced.
- Next you will move to your third-eye chakra. Feel your forehead open and expand as the violet light energy flows through this chakra allowing you to see and experience clearly. (This is the chakra that allows you to see things with your psychic eye. When it is clear and balanced, and you are open and willing to receive, it will be come easier to see psychic visions, especially during meditation).
- Now you will move to your crown chakra. Feel the top of your head open and expand as the violet-white light pours through your head, slowly working its way down your entire body. Allow this beautiful light of God to fill you with peaceful energy. Imagine it slowly working down your neck and into your shoulders. Feel the energy move down your arms and out through your fingertips. It is slowing moving down your torso and down your legs and toes where it turns around and flows up and out of your body, completely surrounding you in the white light of love.
- Imagine this beautiful light flowing through your aura, keeping you balanced and in peace. Imagine locking it in with the positive energy of the universe, allowing you to keep the white light with you throughout the day.
- Now, you will prepare to come back from your meditation. Start to consciously breathe deeply; breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. As you are doing this, start to feel your body; feel your arms, hands, legs, and feet. Hear the music, smell the candles, and feel yourself back in your room; your chakras are balanced, and a wonderful sensation of peace surrounds you.
- Slowly open your eyes and just look around and enjoy the peace. Sit there for a few minutes in the relaxation until you are ready to get up and go on with your day.
Again, this works best on a daily basis, but if life is to busy, don`t worry. Do it whenever you can and whenever you feel drawn to do so. If you would like to do it more than once a day, that is fine. Meditation can be done as often as you feel necessary. The more often you do it, the better you feel.
